Yorks Brass Monkey Half Marathon

Today was Yorks Brass Monkey Half Marathon about two thousand runners took part in the race. I had the opportunity to join the Marriott Hotel stand and provide after race massage for runners. I also met Claire Frisby from BBC Look North programme. She was there to start the race. Had a really lovely day and met some lovely people.    http://www.yorkknavesmireharriers.co.uk/brassmonkey.htm

Solutions to work-life balance

Hi, I have just received my July edition of the ‘Psychologist’ and quickly read a certain article which is close to my heart, ‘Solutions to work-life balance’. It certainly raised food for thought about series of trends that we have seen and how we run our lives today. It also questions our assumptions of a traditional family. For instance, there are more single parents, couples are starting a family later in life, and how we have witnessed a sandwich generation  caring for young and elderly dependants. We have a more multicultural society in the inner cities. We need to be aware of the implications of work live balance needs and solutions.

York College Complex Spine Course

Hi, Just to say I completed a complex spine course at York College today. I surprised myself with how much knowledge I had retained about anatomy and physiology. We did theory in the morning and practical in the afternoon, where we took it in turns to be the patient and practitioner. I won’t be counting sheep tonight, instead I will be seeing, ’dermatones and myotones, L1, L2, L5. Fantastic CPD. www.yorkcollege.ac.uk

Opening Soon…Practitioners York Support Group

What is the similarity between a group of practioners and a set of wheels? They both need a hub to hold them together. And that is where the Local Support Groups come in, to give the local practioners a point of focus. I am going to open my own Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) group in York. I have a passion for bringing people together. And I want to take messages about complementary healthcare, beauty and sports therapy out to Members and the general public. Do you want to feel part of a larger community? Do you want to have fun? www.fht.org.uk
